Hosted by longtime dealers Tim Pohanka, Chris Lenckosz, and Jason Cole, Tour Detour takes the conversations that happen every day in dealerships and lets the road answer them. No scripts. No marketing spin. Just honest experiences behind the wheel.
That philosophy feels familiar to us. Every day, dealerships rely on Dealer Image Pro to present their inventory with professional, consistent photography that gives shoppers confidence before they ever step onto the lot. Great merchandising doesn’t create trust—it reveals it. The quotes throughout this article come from Tim Pohanka, who shared his reflections on Season 1, what viewers can expect from Season 2, and what may be next for Tour Detour.
What Is Tour Detour?
Tour Detour is built around one simple idea: put automotive opinions to the test.
Instead of debating reliability, ownership costs, or vehicle myths online, the hosts buy the cars, drive the miles, and let the results speak for themselves.
Season 1, The Good, The Bad & The CVT, followed three high-mileage Nissans across 1,500 miles of demanding terrain, exploring one of the industry’s most talked-about topics with honesty, humor, and firsthand experience. It wasn’t about proving anyone right. It was about giving viewers something more valuable than opinions—real-world perspective.
What did Season 1 teach you about the value of authentic automotive storytelling?
“The value of authentic storytelling cannot be stressed enough. It’s easier to connect with people when what you see is real and repeatable. You can see yourself in what we are doing, and that’s part of the fun. You are giving people permission to act not just dream. More importantly I think consumers of this content appreciate authenticity over polish. They can tell when something is staged versus when it’s a genuine road trip with genuine detours, and that honesty is what keeps them coming back.”
Season 2: The German Job
Season 2 heads south with a new challenge.
The German Job follows a group of high-mileage German vehicles across more than 1,000 miles of backroads, mountains, mud, and everything in between. German vehicles have always sparked strong opinions. Some buyers see engineering and performance. Others focus on repair costs and long-term ownership. This season puts those assumptions where they belong—on the road. Rather than asking viewers to trust someone else’s opinion, Tour Detour shows exactly what these vehicles can handle under real driving conditions.
What can viewers expect from Season 2?
“We definitely moved the needle. The production team, the route, the fun. This season we do a much better job of bringing the viewer along for the ride.”
Why We’re Supporting Tour Detour
Dealer Image Pro exists to help dealerships build buyer confidence through better vehicle presentation. Professional photography, consistent merchandising, and accurate inventory create stronger first impressions and more confident shoppers.
Tour Detour is built on the same principle. When people can see the experience for themselves, they don’t have to rely on assumptions.
Whether it’s a customer shopping online or a viewer watching a road trip unfold, authenticity builds trust. That’s why sponsoring Tour Detour made perfect sense for us. It’s dealer-driven, honest, entertaining, and focused on the conversations that matter to buyers.
Moments to Watch
The best moments in Tour Detour are never planned. They’re the unexpected challenges that reveal how the vehicles—and the people behind the wheel—respond when conditions get tough.
Season 2 delivers plenty of those moments.
Without giving too much away, what’s one moment viewers won’t want to miss?
“Have you ever been to a Dirty Track in the Deep South Saturday night? We have…”
What surprised you most while filming this season?
“Honestly, how absolutely amazing vehicles with a little age can be. You start to fall in love with a vehicle that a lot of people would otherwise overlook. We get these cars with over 100k on the odometer and drive them for at most 2,500 miles but have amazing memories attached. And at the end of journey you don’t want to give them back!”
Looking Ahead
The automotive world will never run out of questions worth testing.
Every vehicle has a reputation. Every dealership hears the same customer concerns. Every road trip uncovers something unexpected.
That’s what makes Tour Detour compelling, and it’s why Dealer Image Pro is proud to support it.
Whether you’re filming a cross-country adventure or merchandising inventory online, trust begins with showing people the real story.
What’s next for Tour Detour after Season 2?
“We’re already talking about where this can go next. The goal has always been to keep finding real stories on the road rather than force a formula, so as long as that keeps working for our audience, we want to keep making more.”
Is there another automotive myth or road trip you’ve already started planning?
“We’ve got a running list. Nothing I can confirm yet, but there are a couple of long-standing road myths we’ve wanted to chase down since before Season 1, and this next run gave us a good excuse to start digging into one of them.”
